Today we took a trip about 50 miles away to Quincy Illinois with our friends the Wise's.  This is a big city compared to anything around us.  We stopped at a tourist information center and got maps and information about the town.  We didn't have a lot of time so we just decided to just do one cultural attraction.  I am getting better about not pushing Jonny for too much culture.  We picked the Quincy Museum.  It is a very beautiful home that has been restored.  It at one time was used for 40 years as a college dorm.  Surprisingly enough it was not damaged only layers of paint had to be removed.  The woodwork was so nice and it had hidden shutters in all of the windows.  I didn't take a good picture outside as I bought a nice postcard instead. After touring the house we went to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch.  After we drove around the historical district and saw some wonderful old homes on a paved brick street.  For those of you from Sacramento it was like the fab. 40's only older.

After stopping for a blizzard - yummy dark choc cherry (my new favorite dessert) and after a little grocery shopping for the Wise's we got back in time to go to our performance at 6:30.  Jonny is still pulling the curtain and I am the prompter.  Still haven't had to prompt anyone yet.  We both sing in 3 of the acts and the new director keeps asking if we want to do more.  Don't know how long we will be able to avoid doing anything more.  After the performances I usually tell the little kids sitting in the front row to look at Jonny.  He has on a black Amish hat and when he leans back it appears his hat is floating.  He tells the kids he has a hole in his head and when he puts his thumb in his mouth and pretends to blow his hat raises.  They all want to see the hold in his head.

The weather today was just perfect no wind and in the high 60's.  It was foggy when we got up and Jonny told me we must have moved to San Francisco during the night.  We couldn't even see the trees out the yard, but after about an hour it was all gone.  Yesterday when I was weeding a big mess the temp was 36, cold, windy and it was like that all day.  By Wednesday it is supposed to be in the 80's.  Sure doesn't take long for the weather to change. 

Don't know if I told you this already, but Elder Wise has been a Santa Claus model for the artist Greg Christensen.  There are several paintings he as sat for and he is so cute with his beard. 

We went for frozen custard last night in Nauvoo with them. We stayed in the shop for 2.5 hours talking before the owner said she was going home and it was 10:00.  We were the only ones in the shop the entire evening.  I guess when it is cold and windy people don't come out for frozen custard.  It is so much fun meeting and getting to know all of these people who have the same values and interests as us.  Can you believe we have been gone now for 6 weeks!!!
